Why are parenting skills in America so poor? Is everyone afraid to parent?

Or is the problem that the parents themselves haven't quite become adults yet. This isn't a knock on the age of a parent. There are plenty of 20, 30, and even low 40 year olds with children who couldn't take control of a sock puppet, let alone a child. What is your problem, parents? Why are parenting skills in America so poor? Is everyone afraid to parent?
I don't think this is just an American problem. What has recently came to light in the UK is the chav problem. The ones who cant be bothered getting jobs, live off the state, have unprotected sex without planning for the future, and spend most of their benefit money on booze.

I know I will get a few TD's for this answer as people love to stick up for chavs, but there violent, aggresive, and lose control easily under the influence of alcohol.

I know of very few people who claim state benefits for genuine reasons of misfortune. The ratio is like 100:1

I asked a similar question to this before as it angers me to see people threatening there children with physical abuse ie there playing up and the chavvy Mum says ';Stop that or you're gonna get a slap!'; My Aunt says people like that should have there kids taken off them just like that.

I blame society for peoples poor parenting skills. When people see a child being abused whether mentally or physically the SHOULD IMMEDIATELY REPORT it to the relavent authorities. I was brought up by a mentally abusive Mother and she kept managing to slip through the social work net because of people's lack of action.

In short, people's poor parenting skills is due to the knowlege that they will unlikely face consequences for it.Why are parenting skills in America so poor? Is everyone afraid to parent?
you are a large jagoff STILL.

I agree, most of the people these days are having children the same time as their parents. Most of the people where I am from really don't need children, by the way they treat them. I agree with my cousin's, most people should take a test to see if they would be good parents, (before getting pregnant). One thing that really bothers me though is the thing called ';child abuse';. Heck if my god-daughter act up, I am going to beat her tail, and she knows that, that is the only way to break them.
What is YOUR problem judging all of American parents like you personally know them?

I bet you are the type of person to criticize celebrities like you know them too.

It isn't just Americans that have a hard time raising their kids.It is every single country out there so unless you want to do something productive and assist people who need help, I advise you to quit with the arrogance and ignorance because it isn't getting anybody anywhere.

Good luck.
What is YOUR problem?? Quit stereotyping Americans because you obviously have a problem with them. Step down off your high horse because Im sure people could say sh*t about your country too. Parenting is not a geographical issue, its a specific issue with people choosing not to discipline. I discipline, live in America, and my kids are fine.
What an ignorant thing to say. First of all, there are good and bad parents everywhere. Case in point: a woman from the UK recently drowned her child. One's nationality has nothing to do with it.

The majority of parents are great and do control their children. I'm one of them.
Statistically, people are waiting longer to have kids now than they have ever before.

Do you have children? Do you work with children? Do you bother to google anything? You don't need to be insulting hard working people about things you obviously don't understand.
I think it's the era of being politically correct. Parents get more worried about being ';cool'; and ';popular'; that their view of what a parent should be is totally skewed.
get over yourself and stop worrying about others, becuase there are plenty of 20, 30 and 40 year olds that can take care of a child!
I haven't seen great parenting in the rest of the world either. Poor parenting is universal, get over it.
Why is it Americans that you are singling out? There are plenty of parents from all countries that need some parenting classes.
It is not just Americans, parents like that exist everywhere. And it isn't ';everyone'; either.
Then move somewhere else.

And if you already live elsewhere then don't worry about how we are raising our children.

Thanks %26amp; have a good day.
maybe you didn't get disciplined is why your talking about something you KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.

What's YOUR problem, child? Don't like an answer, report it?
Do you have any evidence this is the least bit accurate?
What about the rest of the world? Like Ethel said, it's universal. It's NOT JUST the US. Get over yourself.
for the same reason people are biased against Americans...because they're ignorant.
idk...some people r lazy and stupid...
