What are the parenting habits of an organ pipe mud dauber?

today i saw an organ pipe mud dauber in my garage and i noticed what looked like a fly hovering beside it, mimicking its every motion. I am curious because i am not sure whether it is a fly or the actual offspring of the mud dauber. I have never heard of an insect taking care of its young after it hatched and i would like to know if what i saw is common with these insects. thank you for your help. What are the parenting habits of an organ pipe mud dauber?
They build mud nests which protect the eggs and developing larvae, and supply collected spiders as a food source for the larvae, but otherwise the larvae are left on their own.

While the nest is being constructed and provisioned it is the female that collects the mud and spiders, the male stays behind and protects the nest from being attacked by other wasps or parasites.
