There's a couple that wants to revive a 30 million dollar lawsuit against myspace. Which had been thrown out by a judge because their daughter who was 13 lied about her age saying she was 18. Met a 19 year old and was sexually assaulted by the 19 year old. Yes, it's a shame that it happened but it's the parents responsibility of educating their daughter about the dangers of the internet and not Myspaces.Isn't it sad that the parents are blaming myspace for their own deficiencies in parenting?
Haha, so I'm not the only one who feels this way.
I know, lets let our children play out in the highway. If they get hit by a car, because we're not paying attention, we'll just sue the driver!
Parents need to pick up the pace here and start being in charge... instead of taxi drivers and waitresses.

Yep. Personally, our computer is blocked. You want to get into a webpage that isn't pre-approved? Gotta come ask me to enter the password. On top of that, we've got a key stroke counter. I know everything. Passwords, etc.
Yes it is pathetic and parents should supervise their space
Dead on!
It is not MySpace's place to raise children...
That's the parent's responsibility!
Case was properly adjudicated...
It's way past time to hold parents responsible for raising kids...
It takes a whole village to raise a child... Typical liberal bull!
What It does take is strong committed parents to raise children... Something society is lacking in many cases...
My child knows his boundaries, and the penalty for crossing the line!
I think it's sad that nobody has shut down MySpace already! I mean come on, it's like a haven for pedophiles!!!
If the daughter hadn't used MySpace to lie about her age and meet a criminal, she would have used another way. MySpace made it easier, but so did the parents.
Just as sad that parents are turning to television and prescription drugs to treat ';ADHD';, but it's easier than parenting.
yes... if you didnt raise your child right, and she said she was legal when she wasn't and someone had sex with her... it isn't rape. She wanted the sex, met up with him. it happens all the time. A girl sleeps with an older boy, catches some STD and says it was rape. Have you ever spoken w/ 13 year olds? all they want is sex from 19 year olds.
Yes that is rather sad. If you keep open communication with your children and make it a point to stay involved then a lot of time things like this won't happen.
Educate until you turn blue, kids will still be kids and naive kids will still get tricked!
It's a parents responsibility to get the computers out of the kids bedroom, install monitoring software, and parent their kids internet usage.
Many kids set out to be bad, many kids just set out to make friends. Adults can easily take advantage of kids who are troubled, lonely or just naive. Parents have to learn that the Internet is another doorway into their home.
TheParentsedge.com is a parents resource created for parents with kids online.
Something like that I do agree with you on...They make those parental controls on computers for a reason and you can block certain stuff you do not want your kid to go on. Plus I doubt they will even get any money from Myspace for the simple fact that MYspace has the same agreement page as every other site saying pretty much they are not responsible for this that and the other so they covered their bases for situations like this. Its a shame parents don't pay attention to stuff like this... Snooping around is a good thing especially with the crap that is going on now-a-days...I know for sure that stuff like those sites will be blocked from my daughters so they can not get on them...just to avoid things like this...If you think about it...its like parents pay soooooo much attention to children when they are little and get into all kinds of things and then just because the kids get older, for some reason they stop paying as much attention to them when really the kids are still getting into things...they're just worse then candy dishes and drawers...it is things like this that make the bad stuff in society happen a lot easier!
