Is there a difference between parenting and raising a child?

I have to write an essay and the question topic is raising a child. That's the same thing as styles of parenting correct?Is there a difference between parenting and raising a child?
yeah i guess. but there's a bit of a difference because parenting is another way of saying guiding and teaching while raising is more like just having them there with you. you know what i mean?Is there a difference between parenting and raising a child?

';Parenting'; is just the more modern, hip, snazzy way of saying it.





';Raising the child'; is bringing up the child. Rearing him/her. Teaching, giving affection, disciplining, encouraging, monitoring, mentoring, supporting. Creating an autonomous, independent, productive adult.
I don't think there is a difference as you are parenting when raising a child. But there are also different styles of parenting. Some people prefer to smack some prefer to do the time out thing.
