My husband needs to learn to control his anger issues and learn what is approiate to say to a 4 year old and what isn't. And how to be nice even if he is still sleeping. How do you get a court order to force your husband to take anger management and parenting classes?
Unfortunately in most states, you need either a violent incident to report, or you need to make a 911 call and tell arriving deputies that you are in fear of your spouse. In Florida, the latter at times does work when followed up with a restraining order. The problem is that it is also at times, the first step in the ending process for your family as you know it to be, and will trigger a divorce process. On the other hand, it may save it as well if your husband sees it as a ';wake-up call';. This is one of life's many ';forks in the road';, and the best way to decide is to consider your children first if indeed you are fearful for their welfare. If your husband is simply a bully, then he will be this way with whomever he is with, until some intercession breaks the chain of behavior. Tell him.........';you are not having it';.How do you get a court order to force your husband to take anger management and parenting classes?
Max is right. Your choices at this point are either to wait until he hurts one of you badly enough that a judge will decide he needs it (which could be pretty badly), and hope that the judge a) sees through his games, b) isn't a good ol' boy and c) thinks that anger management and parenting classes will help...oh and then you get to hope your husband follows through, which most men don't. And then, the icing on the cake is that when men are forced into these things, they have a ridiculously high rate of recidivism (meaning they don't give a crap about the classes, and they're just going to reoffend).
OR
Leave his butt.
If you want you and the kids to be SAFE, you're down to one option. It's up to you.
Don't know if it will help but the schools usually have free parenting classes. You could check that out. You will have to convince him that he needs to go with you of course, but they are available.
Through child protective services. Maybe the friend of the court, but not if you are together I don't think. You could maybe find a court form or summons or something..look in your state gov website for answers.
If he has been charged with domestic violence, the judge would then court order him to do anger management classes and parenting classes..
He has to beat you up and be prosecuted for spousal abuse then the court can order it as a condition of probation.
