What is the most important thing about Parenting?

What would you consider the most important attribute in being a parent? What is the most important thing about Parenting?
Be the role Model to them

Be the guidance and the leader, show the what's right and what's wrong

be the friend who listens to them and understands them,

be the mother who gives love and care to them,

(share everything with them, believe in them, know them better)

but yet, try to give them some space.. and u'll be the perfect parent

G'luck =)What is the most important thing about Parenting?
Positive communication! This means actually engaging your child in conversation (not just what, but why) and providing full explanations.

If you offer conversation to your child (ie: ';what color are bananas? Yellow! What else is the color yellow? Is a sunflower yellow?';) and stay away from shoving half-hearted answers at them (';No.'; ';Because I said so.';) children actually grow up to be more socially adjusted and tend to be able to relate to other better.

This is proven true especially with deaf children in Oliver Sacks' book Seeing Voices. :)

Also, teaching your baby sign language is extremely good for their development in both technical and creative aspects. It's also adorable to see a baby sign ';more?';

I'm sure no matter what advice you take, you will be a fantastic mother! Congratulations!
Never trust the instinct to throw a wobbly at the child.

Always trust the knowledge that you will learn what you SHOULD have done after the event.

Basically, you will grow at the same rate and ';PATIENCE'; with them and yourself is the most important attribute.

Alf is right.
I'm not a parent.

But i'd say try guiding you child to make the right decisions and accept them for who their are: gay, bisexual, straight, retarded, dislexic, or mentally challenged in the way of thinking straight.

My parents are just as loving.
According to the powers that be, there are five outcomes to raising a child. These specifically relate to children in care but I believe they're relevant for any child:

1/ Being Healthy

2/ Staying Safe

3/ Enjoying %26amp; Achieving

4/ Making a Positive Contribution

5/ Economic Well-Being
Doing the best you can do for them

Try and guide them in the right way and tell them what right and wrong

Listen to them

Talk without screaming (i know its hard sometimes)

Patience !
For the first 16 or so years, being a parent and not a friend. When the kids are approaching adulthood, that's the time to be friends.
well being there for your kids no matter what!

and listening without hovering or forcing them to tell you anything.

they gotta know your there for them without you telling them
teaching your kids the right way.And don't let them be indifferent to things going on in the world.make sure they grow up to be kind, pleasant human beings.
patience, understanding, teaching them respect and LOVE LOVE LOVE!
The parenting bit.
Being a parent to your child rather than trying to be the child's best friend.
CONSISTENCY!!
unconditional love

patience

just being there for them
Having the patience of a saint!!
simply be there for them no matter what and just loving them
your kids?
